Cycling in Mallorca in autumn: routes and tips

Published on 10/5/2026

October and November are peak season for cycling in Mallorca. Recommended routes and practical tips for riding in autumn.

Why autumn is peak season for cycling in Mallorca

Once the summer heat fades, Mallorca turns back into cycling territory. In October and November daytime temperatures sit around 18–24 °C, the Serra de Tramuntana roads empty of tourist traffic and the low light makes every climb look like a postcard. For many riders it is the best time of the year to ride on the island.

Routes to enjoy in autumn

  • Coll de Sóller and Deià: a steady climb through olive groves and a descent towards the sea. Perfect for a mid-paced morning ride.
  • Puig Major and Cuber: the island's benchmark long climb. In autumn you climb without the heat, but it gets cool at the top, so pack a layer.
  • Andratx, Coll de sa Gramola and Estellencs: a coastal road with Mediterranean views, ideal if you start from the south-west of the island.
  • The Pla de Mallorca plains: quiet back roads between villages and almond trees, great for recovery days or mixed groups with e-bikes.

Practical tips for autumn cycling

  • Dress in layers: cool mornings and mild middays. Arm warmers, knee warmers and a windproof gilet take up little space and save the day.
  • Mind the shorter days: it gets dark earlier. Plan your ride to get back in daylight and always carry front and rear lights.
  • Damp tarmac: after the first rains, shaded corners in the Tramuntana can be slippery. Descend with margin.
  • Check the wind: the tramontana can blow hard. Keep an inland plan B if it is a headwind.
  • Keep drinking: it is cooler, but you still sweat on the climbs. Two bottles and some food.

Your bike ready when you arrive

If you are coming to Mallorca without a bike, Iconick Ride will have a road, gravel or electric bike set up to your measurements and fully checked, so all you have to think about is riding. Autumn is quiet, so it is easy to get the size and model you want.
