Best cycling routes in Mallorca
Mallorca is one of Europe’s most complete cycling destinations: legendary climbs, smooth roads and mild weather for most of the year. This guide covers must-ride routes, levels and practical tips to ride safely.
1. Sa Calobra (Coll dels Reis)
The icon. Perfect hairpins down to the sea. Demanding both descending and climbing—go early or midweek to avoid tourist traffic. Check your brakes and respect blind corners.
2. Cap de Formentor
Classic ride from Port de Pollença to the lighthouse. Narrow sections reward lights at dawn and avoiding peak midday traffic in high season.
3. Coll de Sóller & Valldemossa
West Tramuntana: olive groves, stone villages and short but steady climbs. Perfect mid-tempo day with coffee stops in Sóller or Deià.
4. Puig Major / Cuber
The island’s long benchmark climb. Great for endurance; pair with Cuber reservoir and a return via Bunyola for a full day.
5. East coast: Porto Cristo – Cala Rajada
More rolling, fewer big climbs. Ideal for mixed groups, e-bikes or recovery days ending with a swim.
Quick tips
- Sweet spots: March–May and September–November.
- Carry bottles, sun protection and a Plan B for tramontana wind.
- Respect village streets and use bike lanes where available.
- Check tyre pressure and lights before long climbs.
